Become an au pair

How do I become an au pair?

IAPA is a membership organisation and does not directly place au pairs with host families, however our trusted member agencies do!

We are against any direct match between au pair and host family and we strongly recommend to always use a legally registered au pair agency in your home country.

Newspaper, online advertisements or one of the many web-based matching services may appear to be inexpensive alternatives for securing an au pair placement, however they do not provide the screening, direct contact and support that our members do provide.

10 reasons to use a registered au pair agency >>

All IAPA members are trusted, reliable agencies that can help you to find your ideal host family.

To contact an IAPA member agency about taking the next steps, you can either:

  1. Review the list of IAPA members and contact a member in your country directly by email or phone.
  2. Fill out our information request form. The form will automatically be sent to the members in your own country and you will be contacted by them directly.*

*The details you submitted will be provided to relevant member agencies only and can be used for future research purposes. IAPA will NOT distribute your details to any third parties.

What if there are no IAPA members in the country where I live?

  • Contact the relevant governmental department in your country of residency and ask them to provide you with a list of reputable au pair agencies.
Note: it is important to check the reliability of any non-IAPA member agency.
  • Contact an IAPA member in the country that you would like to go to as an au pair. It is possible that our IAPA member agency has a partner organisation in the country where you are located.
