Sandra Landau, co-founder of IAPA, receives MBE Award from HRH Princess Anne
As previously communicated during our last AGM, IAPA is delighted to announce that Sandra Landau, owner of longstanding IAPA agency Childcare International Ltd (UK) and co-founder of IAPA, has been appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the UK 2017 Honours List for her services to au pair cultural exchange programmes.
On Tuesday 25th of April, Sandra was presented the MBE Award by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace, London.
This highly prestigious award recognises Sandra’s more than 20 years of voluntary service dedicated to establishing and
promoting high professional standards for the au pair industry, as well as representing the industry at international and government levels and supporting its global cultural exchange programmes for young people.
Sandra Landau MBE has been part of the au pair industry since 1986. In 1994 she became a founder member of the International Au Pair Association (IAPA) and was then a member of its executive board for many years. She was the catalyst for the formation of BAPAA the British Au Pair Association in 2003 and served as its chairperson until 2015.
Sandra is the author of the Au Pair Handbook which is widely used by all BAPAA member agencies to help understanding between newly arrived au pairs and their host families.

IAPA was more than happy to support BAPAA´s nomination of Sandra with the MBE Honours Jury to reward her for her contribution to the au pair programme in the UK and worldwide. This prestigious recognition of all her efforts motivates us to keep working for the au pair programme and to follow her lead.”
In her short speech during the IAPA AGM in Munich Sandra Landau MBE said: “When starting my business some 30 years ago, I could never have envisaged receiving this MBE Honour and I am really grateful to all my colleagues who proposed me. Most importantly it is a recognition for the whole industry and the values we place on safe and secure placements.”
