What are you thankful for on International Au Pair Day?

What are you thankful for on International Au Pair Day?

In two weeks from now we´ll celebrate International Au Pair Day (IAPD) for the 4th year running on 24 November 2022.

24 November 2019 marked the 50th Anniversary of the release of the “European agreement on au pair placements” by the Council of Europe in 1969.

Join us and be thankful on International Au Pair Day

This year, the International Au Pair Day coincides with the American Thanksgiving holiday.
As appreciation of the au pair programme and thankfulness towards au pairs is supposed to be one of the intentions of International Au Pair Day, we were inspired to create a theme for this day.

” What are you thankful for?”

We would like to ask you to participate in this common theme.
The idea is to ask au pairs, host families, their children, former au pairs, agencies or all stakeholders to express in one sentence what they are grateful for, with regard to the au pair programme.

This could be done in a short video statement, a photo or any other format that can be communicated – particularly on social media.

Some examples:
Au pairs

“I am thankful for all the international friendships I made during my stay.”

“I am thankful for my caring host family.”

Host families
“We are thankful for our au pair (name) who is a wonderful big sister for our children.”

Agencies
“I am thankful to be able to work with young people from all over the world.”
.
.
You can all be as creative as you wish.

We at IAPA, our members and all those who wish to participate can spread their statements in the weeks and days leading up to and around 24 November and thus create a lot of attention and positive buzz around this day.

We call on all au pair agencies, host families, former, present, future au pairs and everyone who cares for this cultural exchange programme: Please get active, share this idea with each other and create short stories or reels of thankfulness.
